Motors contain significant quantities of metals that can be recycled for money. The copper windings are of the most valuable in the scrap motors. Next is the aluminum in windings or aluminum/steel armatures. Followed by the ferrous parts, which include cast iron or steel casings plus thin silicon steel sheets, or laminations. 

ST-400 motor dismantling machine employs a three-stage process to harvest the valuable copper within.

Stage One

The operator removal of the outer casing. With extreme high pressure exerted by the splitting apparatus, the aluminum or cast iron housing is cut on opposing sides to separate and peeled away to expose the stator. The anchor/rotor is then removed.

Stage Two

The cleaving of the stator or transformer block into two equal pieces. Copper coils are exposed and ready for separation from the remaining parts and materials.

Stage Three

Pulling the copper winding away from the surrounding metal through which it had been threaded by means of a hydraulic system. Teeth grip the winding and pushing rods push the housing away.
